I enjoyed Dr. Phil Maffetone's short book Million Dollar Marathon. It's a quick fun read. Maffetone is obviously very knowledgeable about the sport of running, along with cultural aspects of Tibet, his main character Xi's home. Definitely recommend it for an afternoon's read!
A fun quick read by Dr. Maffetone with some personal politics along with his own dietary and training beliefs mixed in. (eg The protagonist eats a diet high in fat, runs long slow distance (the legendary Maff Method). If you're a runner or used to run, a good read.
Good read that melds Dr. Maffetone's views on training and health into a story about breaking the 2:00:00 mark in the marathon. Even more fun to read if you have already read Maffetone's thoughts on running.
This is very light reading. I guess it never hurts to remind people of China's heavy handed takeover of Tibet, but there's just not much substance here- it's just a harmless little story where the guy wins his race and gets the girl...
